Black plague doctor3/21/2024 If theriac wasn't available, physicians would recommend more crude options, such as boil-lancing, rubbing herbs or onions on the boils, bathing in urine or drinking vinegar, according to World History. Treatments included covering the black buboes (swollen lymph nodes) with a plaster of theriac paste, a mystical cure-all concoction that included over 70 ingredients such as opium, viper's flesh, wine, and numerous herbs and roots (per The Lancet). Learn about the history of the Black Death, the most devastating pandemic in human history, and the plague doctors who treated and protected the sick. The Black Plague first showed up during the 1340s, and the assumption is that this outfit was designed to keep doctors sick while treating patients who came down with the plague. The bacterial infection still occurs but can be treated with antibiotics. They were hoping the humors would then re-balance and help the body heal. Known as the Black Death, the much feared disease spread quickly for centuries, killing millions. The plague arrived in Europe in October 1347, when 12 ships from the Black. Infections were a common result of this practice (per World History).ĭoctors also used a number of herbs and pastes to try to control the boils caused when the lymph nodes got infected and swelled up. The Black Death was a devastating global epidemic of bubonic plague that struck Europe and Asia in the mid-1300s. Womens White Anti-Slip Thigh High Stockings. Bloodletting using leeches was a well-established medical practice in medieval Europe, but it required hiring a professional "leach-collector." At the time of the plague, most sick people resorted to more primitive methods of bloodletting, such as making a cut on the skin and letting it bleed. It happened within the centuries-long Second Pandemic, a period of intermittent bubonic plague epidemics that originated in Central Asia in 1331 (the first year of the Black Death ), and included related diseases such as. A plague doctor was a type of doctor who would treat victims of the bubonic plague, also known as the Black Death, during the second major outbreak of the disease across Western Europe. To do this, physicians prescribed a mix of unsanitary, dangerous, and superstitious practices, according to Live Science. The Great Plague of London, lasting from 1665 to 1666, was the last major epidemic of the bubonic plague to occur in England. Clock in out time converter3/21/2024 If you’re looking at the time zone map, every 15 degree increment West of Greenwich goes back an hour, and every increment 15 degrees East of Greenwich goes forward an hour. The imaginary beginning of the time zone map is in Greenwich, a suburb in London that sits atop longitude zero. They are the widest near the equator and zero at the North and South poles. They are 15 degrees of longitude wide to account for the distance of the rotation per hour.īecause of the spherical shape of the Earth, the time zones are not the same distance apart. Consequently, the time zone map was created by separating the Earth into 24 sections, with each section representing a time zone. It makes a total rotation of 360 degrees in 24 hours. After realizing that it spins on an axis, it was noted that the Earth rotates about 15 degrees every 60 minutes. Scientists created the time zone map by studying how the Earth moves. However, in 1883, the United States began to use four standard time zones and in 1884 Britain sought to gain international acceptance for time zones around the world. The transportation sector sought to address that with the introduction of standard time zones for their purposes, which was partially successful. However, early use of time zones was confusing, as different stations along a single railroad could have had different standard times, therefore, confusing passengers and even railway staff. The fact that a standard timekeeping system was needed to facilitate accurate legal and commercial dealings was clear to people as early as the eighteenth century. Imagine the confusion that would ensue if different places around the world observed different time instead of sticking to a global system: we’d never get anything done or agree on anything! Personal communications, airplane and shipping schedules, international meetings, transport – the entire system would collapse if there was no timekeeping system to ensure we’re all on the same page. The primary purpose of time zones around the world is to facilitate transportation and communication. But what are time zones in the first place, and how did we come up with them? Let‘s dig a little deeper: History of Time Zones This is why a time zone converter tool is your best bet when trying to figure out time zone differences around the world. Curiously enough, some countries, despite being immensely vast, only have one time zone (China), while others who are relatively small span over 12 time zones (France – because it still holds territories around the world). Some places, like Nepal and India, offset their time zones by 30 minutes or 45 minutes instead of a full hour, adding to the confusion. In addition, the time zone converter tool will give you accurate results taking daylight saving time amendments into account: some countries around the world observe daylight saving time, others don’t, and others still are split between regions, making it that much harder to figure out exactly what time is it in a particular location.įinally, not all countries have the same one-hour difference. Just input any date: past, present, or in the future if you’re trying to plan ahead, and you can instantly see the result helping you schedule your communications better. Using our time zone converter tool, you can find the time difference between your selected cities with our world time converter. If you manage several teams around the world or communicate with people in multiple cities or countries, this tool can help you stay on top of time zone variations across the board. A time zone converter is an invaluable tool if you work, communicate, or socialize with people around the world – after all, no one wants to be interrupted by a phone call at midnight or be asked to submit a project by 4 am in the morning. All you need to do is select your own time zone, pick the country or city you’re looking at, and you’ll instantly see the result. The simplest and fastest way to find out what time is it in any given country or city around the world is using a time zone converter. But let’s face it: it’s impossible to know all the time zones around the globe, not to mention factors like daylight saving adjustments or the fact that some countries have a time offset of 30 or 54 minutes instead of whole hour (we’re looking at you, India!). If it’s lunch break in London, what time is it in Tokyo? If you know your time zones well, you can quickly calculate the time differences between countries. Little nightmares seven genderbend3/21/2024 They sounded like the band Sparks, but with a Ramones punch. They were ahead of their time because they dressed as women they had dildos hanging from their underwear and had very long hair and sang in very operatic. While I was looking for music online, I’d put the same question: What other bands are like that, but in Mexico? Myspace was big at the time, and I found a group called Lesbian Bitches From Mars. What were the first punk bands you were hearing? It was wanting to feel included in something, some type of ritual. I didn’t drink, but people wanted to have a good time. Let’s do it.” We’d go, 13-year-olds going into the alley to see kids just get together just to make music. I can’t be here.” They were like, “Let’s go to the rock show. After school, I started asking, “What’s new here in this town, Guadalajara? Tell me what I can do to get out of my house. I was very much wanting to be a part of something because at school, being bullied or even bullying myself, I never felt included in a tribe. It was a yearning to be included in a group of people that were classified as rebels. It brings you back to the past – imaginary memories that you created when you were little. This man’s immortal.” Even though he’s not here, when I listen to classical music, I see that image of him, like a bull walking around a ring, looking for the guy in the red cape to kill him. I always pictured him as being a bull, snorting and exhaling the fumes coming from his nostrils, and I thought, “This man is never going to die. It’d make him breathe heavy, fill his lungs up with air. I think it was more related to the fact of how he reacted, my father, while listening to classical music. The first type of music that I fell in love with that I can remember was classical music. What was the first music that you ever fell in love with? That explains why, ever since I was little, I would think about death a lot. It took him passing away for us to go back to our roots and that’s when I most embraced the Mexican style of life, which is basically obsessed with death. I’d lie to my teachers and tell them my father’s name was Mark, when in fact it was Roberto. That made me ashamed of speaking Spanish, for example. I was very ashamed of my own culture and I think that was very embedded in me in Denver from going to public schools and being bullied. He could even end up in prison if he let that pass by. He would overlook the kitchen area to make sure none of the inmates, while cleaning the dishes, would take the knife or anything, because then that would be on his head. Eventually, my dad found a stable job in Denver in the prison industry. How long did you live in Denver before you moved to Mexico? Tell me a little bit about how that worked.īasically, while I was growing up in Denver, we’d go back and forth a lot between the States and Mexico. Basically, I think that’s why I started doing punk rock music, because I don’t want to be an angel at all. They really strongly believed in that and so ever since I was little, my mom would always say, “You’re an angel, you’re an angel,” to the point where I didn’t want to be an angel. If you’re born at the nighttime, the devil will possess your mind. I remember my mom being very prideful, because according to her mother, my grandmother, when you’re born in the morning, it means that an angel can possess your body. In this excerpt from her Fireside Chat with Vivian Host on RBMA Radio, Gender Bender discusses the angelic symbolism of her birth time, her introduction to feminism in Guadalajara and the influence of emotional guilt on her music. Throughout it all, the group has gone through numerous lineup changes, but Gender Bender remains a constant, her commanding presence all but impossible to ignore. He’s remained behind the boards for subsequent albums Cry Is for the Flies (2014) and A Raw Youth (2015), the latter of which featured guest appearances from Iggy Pop and John Frusciante. Simply put, there’s nothing polite about the band, but that didn’t bother Omar Rodríguez-López of At the Drive-In and The Mars Volta, who produced and contributed bass guitar to Le Butcherettes’ debut full-length album, Sin Sin Sin, and ultimately issued the record via his own label. Hailing from Zapopan, a town just outside of Guadalajara, she formed the group in 2007 and quickly attracted lots of attention, both for the band’s blazing, guitar-driven sound and her own onstage antics, which included performing in a bloody apron and employing raw meat, fake blood and a pig’s head, amongst other things, as props. Le Butcherettes is the name of the band, but this confrontational Mexican garage punk outfit has always revolved around the artistic vision of founder and frontwoman Teri Gender Bender. Random animal name generator3/20/2024 Most importantly, you have the option to specify the exact types of names you want to see which That come with using this free online name tool that you can't get with a name book or long list of People who stumble across this free name generator often wonder why it's better than the typical way toįind names in a baby book or from a long list of names on a website. Together, they can create hundreds of thousands of random names. The tool has thousands of girl names and boy names, as well as thousands of last names. Once you've made these choices, you hit the "Generate Random Names" button and a list will appear. Finally, you get to decide if you want only first names, last names, or full names. You then need to indicate whether you want female names, male names, or a combination of the two. In this case, the first step is to choose the number of random names you want to be displayed. The other use for this tool is as an actual new name generator. It can be useful for school student assignments and work-related assignments as well where it's important for the assignment to be fair and random. For example, if you have a list of chores for your kids to do and they are complaining that you don't assign the chores fairly, you can use the name randomizer to make those assignments. This can be a great way to assign the names on the list to something specific. For example, if you have a list of 20 students that you want to put into a random order, you would choose "20" and all of the students' names would appear in random order. In this case, you aren't using it as a random name picker, but as a true name randomizer. If you had 30 people on the list and you wanted two teams, you would choose "15" and the fifteen random names that showed up from the list would be one team while the other 15 names would be the other team.Īnother option is to use the name randomizer to randomize all the names on your list. Another example of using this as a name picker is if you want to make two teams out of a list of names. If you wanted the random name picker to choose two winners, you would choose "2" and two names from the list would appear. For example, if you're picking a single winner from a list of names, you would choose "1" and the one name generated would be the winner. In this case, you choose the number of names you want to appear. The first way this can be used is as a random name picker. Once you choose it, a box will appear and all you need to do is paste your list of names into the name randomizer. The name randomizer from a list is pretty simple and straightforward. There are two distinct ways it can be used depending on whether you want to create entirely new random names or if you want to use a name randomizer as a name picker from a list of names you already have. The first step is to choose the actual way you want to use it. For those who are looking to create a random name or who are looking for a name randomizer, the Random Name Generator is the perfect tool for you.
Mercury poison detox3/20/2024 There are several factors that influence the safety of a chelating substance beyond the method of application. Oral and transdermal applications are softer, work gradually through time and thus are safer even though the drug used is the same. In general chelation drugs have proven to be relatively non toxic but that is not everyones experience especially with the IV forms of administration, which is highly shocking to the body, to say the least. This is certainly the case with amalgam removal, medicine in general, as well as the specific medical area of chelation. If a treatment itself causes more damage, or leads to a long term worsening of problems - one has to beware, be fully informed, and take steps to mitigate risk before fully embarking on any such a treatment. If accumulation of heavy metals and hundreds if not thousands of other foreign chemicals are infiltrating our systems it is only logical that removing their insulting influences is a medical necessity. This chapter is about another way of forcing the mercury and other hostile chemicals out of their hiding places. Clinically it is usually thought that glutathione and glutathione pre-cursers are best utilized in combination with a traditional synthetic chelator like DMPS. These other "non chelators," which some refer to as chelators, are more effective when the mercury is first entering into the body and or when it is being pulled out of the cells and again being dumped back into the blood. True chelators penetrate into the bodies tissues and actually pull the mercury and other heavy metals out of their hidding places. Thus both glutathione and NAC, though not true chelators, do part of the work that chelators do. NAC (N-acetylcysteine) is a widely available glutathione precursor that has the ability to directly bind and excrete mercury via its single thiol (sulfur atom) as well as support and increase the body's store of glutathione as a precursor. The healthy body also uses glutathione stores to detoxify and remove mercury and other poisons from the body. Because of its two sulfurs, ALA can bind and transport mercury for excretion from the body. The nutrient ALA (alpha lipoic acid) is a dithiol (with 2 sulfur atoms) compound that is normally used by the body in small amounts as part of the enzymes for producing cellular energy. There are other agents, some which help with the mobilization and others that assist the body with the process of elimination. Representation of Chelaton Molecule Binding with a Mercury Atom. The body is not always able to do this! Often perpetuating factors are present that disable the body?s mechanisms to detox." The term "chelation" generally implies a chemical binding and excretion of mercury and other heavy metals, by DMPS, DMSA, and EDTA and these drugs mobilize mercury and other heavy metals but do not necessarily carry them out of the body. The body has to do the excreting with the help of the proper agents. Detoxifying or detoxing means mobilizing and moving it out of the body. Klinghardt, means stirring mercury up from its hiding places. Dietrich Klinghardt, one of the founding fathers of chelation therapy, is very clear that there is a difference between mobilization and detoxification. Faulty avenues of elimination can create a nightmare for both patient and physician thus great care needs to be taken with any chelation or detoxification program.ĭr. Unfortunately this is neither easy nor automatic. Once chelated the complex compounds need to be eliminated. No matter which method of application (IV is expensive and the most dangerous method of chelation) synthetic drugs are used that depend on specific biochemical dynamics that include the sequestering of toxic materials out of their hiding places. Recently the movement has been toward oral applications of chelation drugs and even more recently to transdermal applications which seems convient, less expensive, and even more effective. Until recently a select few doctors have been using intravenous chelation therapy to eliminate toxic poison loads for both acute and chronic exposures. Since our exposure to general chemical toxins in the environment is only going to get worse with time, any reasonable and cost effective method that reduces concentrations of toxic metals and other poisonous chemicals in the human body will find great use in the 21st century (the Age of Toxicity). The detox experience can be made much easier, shorter and more effective. AuthorWrite something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview. ArchivesCategories |
